In the latest edition of “Operation World” by Jason Mandryk under the topic of The Church Worldwide, he writes: “Leadership development is the crucial bottleneck to Church growth. There is a worldwide lack of men and women truly called of God and deeply taught in the Scriptures to lead the churches, people willing to suffer the burdens and responsibilities of leadership for the sake of the Saviour who redeemed them…Those who accurately and effectively expound the Scriptures are few, especially in areas where the churches are growing rapidly. New methods and means of multiplying well-trained, godly, effective leaders must be developed; traditional methods alone will not suffice to produce the number and quality required to meet the need. Ministers who are seminary graduates are often the least likely to have a biblical worldview. Pastors, ministers, and elders all need constant upholding in prayer.”
At The Bible Seminary, where I serve as President, we are pleased to serve a growing body of adults seeking deep training in the Scriptures from called, well-trained leaders with a biblical worldview in every area of life. Many of our graduate students already serve as pastors and ministry leaders, while others are seeking training for ministry leadership in various contexts. Our Bible Certificate students also serve in many contexts and are hungry for biblical training to better know and love the Lord and serve others more effectively as spouses, parents, and leaders in their businesses, churches, communities, schools, and more.
Mandryk continues, “5. Discipleship is regarded by many Christian leaders as the greatest challenge facing the Church today. In regions…where the Church has grown remarkably fast, there are literally millions of new believers who need to learn the Word and the Christian walk. Shaping their worldview and lifestyle biblically will form growing, mature followers of Christ…There is, as ever, a genuine need for effective Bible study and teaching…genuine fellowship and commitment to involvement in ministry.”
The Bible Seminary (TheBibleSeminary.org) is part of the movement answering this challenge. We are pleased to offer participation through a variety of biblically-based courses available for graduate credit, certificate credit, and/or audit. Our classroom options are currently based in eight locations in the Houston, Texas area, but we anticipate expansion to other regional and national locations over time with organizations who would like to offer next-level, Christ-centered education to their clients, congregations, customers, staff, and/or local community. Keep that us in mind as you consider your future in partnering with others to help meet the critical needs of training and raising up strong Christian leaders in your context. Pray for us as we grow, and perhaps grow in your direction!
Our archaeological excavations, publications, and productions in conjunction with the Associates for Biblical Research (ABR) are available to interested persons worldwide. Last year, more than 200 people from around the world participated in the Tel Shiloh excavations during the four-week annual dig, and others joined us for tours of the Holy Land. For more information about our dig and tours in 2019, visit DigShiloh.org.
Personally, my most recent book, “Boss Like God: A Blueprint for Elite Workplace Performance” (available on Amazon), is also designed to serve as a teaching and discipleship tool for business and organizational leaders, individuals and small groups hungry to reflect on Scripture, history, and contemporary examples to learn how to be great, godly bosses and leaders. Meeting the crucial needs Mandryk highlights are also great adventures and I rejoice in sharing portions of mine with you!
